Counting Ourselves

Data Acess

Accessing the Counting Ourselves data

We welcome expressions of interest from suitably qualified researchers, Masters / PhD students, community organisations, and public health agencies who are interested in accessing and analysing data from our 2018 or 2022 Counting Ourselves surveys. We are particularly open to research requests that aim to promote the health and wellbeing of trans and non-binary people.

Researchers who are interested in accessing our data are asked to provide preliminary information about their proposed study. This should include where possible:

  • a brief overview of your or your organisation’s background and experience
  • a brief overview of the research area
  • research questions, aims, and methods
  • which survey questions you are interested in (please refer to our 2018 and 2022 survey questions)
  • how you would like to receive the data, for example, anonymised data files or tables of the results?

All data access requests will be reviewed by the Counting Ourselves team. If a request is approved, researchers will be required to read and sign our Memorandum of Understanding and adhere to our data access protocols before data can be shared.

To submit an expression of interest, please contact us at kiaora@countingourselves.nz
